Untitled series of beauties reflected in mirrors

Publisher: Iba-ya Sensaburô

1844-1845

This series of fan prints (uchiwa) shows beautiful young women in a state of dishabille at their toilette in front of mirrors, with the mirror’s corners partly concealed with cloth covers.  The series is not listed in Kuniyoshi by Basil William Robinson (Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1961).  Each print bears the seal of the censor Tanaka (田中), dating them between the first month of 1844 and the second month of 1845.
